In today’s fast-paced business world, organizations produce an exponentially growing amount of information; the longer you wait, the harder it is to implement information governance. Organizations face increasing pressure to improve value, accountability, performance, and quality (while reducing risk) to meet the demands of stakeholders, customers, employees, the government, and regulators.

Information governance programs enable organizations to leverage their information quickly and efficiently to respond to challenges and opportunities posed by the market. A sound information governance program provides formal policies, standards, and technology controls that enable decision-makers to receive the accurate, timely information they need to achieve business objectives.

But how do you implement information governance on data that is created and/or existed in an organization over many years or even decades? This session provides an insight into an organization’s journey in improving its information governance program.

Specifically, discusses the following topics required to achieve a long-term sustainable solution:

  • Information Discovery – What data do we have? Where is it and where is our sensitive data?
  • Information Classification – How do we categorize data and how do we protect it?
  • Information Lifecycle – How do we enable on-going lifecycle management including retention, archival and disposition of data?
